My Coaching Philosophy
Most life coaches focus on action plans. I don't. Action plans are like diets—they skirt the deeper issues. Our deepest issues stem from a craving for love and reassurance and a need for connection. We often lack belief in our personal value—that we really, truly matter, and a mistrust in the universe's ability to meet us half way.
It doesn't have to be that way! I have no doubt that you matter. Your life, please listen, has such value. The universe will meet you half way—it is only a matter of stepping a foot forward. You can then choose to tune into bottomless sources of love and reassurance with which you can nourish and replenish yourself for a lifetime.
If you're ready to harvest your true self and guide it out into the open, I'd love to work with you.
How Does Coaching Work?
Coaching means that you will spend an hour focused on you. That hour is a truth-seeking mission of your heart, mind, and thoughts. It's your time.
We'll talk for an hour on the phone/computer once a week (or every other week, depending on what feels right). Between calls, you'll practice the self care we've discussed, test out communication and relationship tools in real life, and do writing assignments that help you identify and deepen the connection to your authentic self.
During our conversations , I will point out opportunities for seeing yourself with kinder eyes, challenge your assumptions about yourself and your limiting beliefs, and acknowledge, honor, and applaud your personal truth every time it emerges.
Let's chat before working together!

Single Life Coaching Session $125
- One hour of life coaching
Choose a Single Life Coaching Session because you value your independence—you want to set the pace—and because you need the flexibility of scheduling sessions when you need them rather than on the same day every week (and maybe you have lots of exciting foreign travel planned!)
5 Session Life Coaching Pack $500
- One hour of coaching
- email support
- Valid for a six month period
- Notes & homework after each call
Choose a 5 Session Life Coaching Package because you're ready to commit to a regularly scheduled conversation and want consistency, in-between dialogue (email support), and the right number of sessions—5 sessions have yielded lasting results for others. If your calls take place every other week, you have ample time to implement your new behaviors and ways of thinking in-between calls (but not so much time that you forget you're on a personal growth path!)
Group Life Coaching
Group Life Coaching Session $75
- 90 minutes of group coaching
- Private Facebook group for continuing the discussion
Choose Group Life Coaching because it gives you the opportunity to benefit from the experience and wisdom of others in the group who share your struggles (and it's budget friendly!) Groups are facilitated by Amy via phone or computer.

Life Coaching Works
Your true self is patient. Your authentic self awaits, inside. What's the worst that can happen if you begin to trust what you know to be true? The wait for permission to be YOU is over.
It's time to believe: you are alright.
You can learn how to feel and be in dialogue with your feelings. It takes practice, it's an art. When you feel, name, and allow that which you feel, that's when self-acceptance blooms. As do patience, love, and a deep sense of ease.
self care + spirituality
Connecting with yourself through daily self care and spiritual practices creates powerfu, ongoing healing. You are worthy of self care. Even on days that you feel small, vulnerable and raw, your life has great value.
life skills + boundaries
Saying 'no' to people, plans, and your need to please will release you from codependence and stress. Sensing and abiding your natural boundaries will free you from ancient conditioning and—gasp!—actually bring you closer to people.
Ease is on the horizon
Do you seek approval from others?
Do you eat, drink, or work to avoid your true self?
Do people tell you that 'you get defensive'?
Do you go 'numb' or feel fuzzy-headed during a conflict?
You're made for Healing
Is it tough saying 'no' to people and plans?
Do you feel shame about the way you are?
Are you unsure that you have a right to your feelings?
Is it difficult to just let go and have fun?
I provide coaching to adult children of alcoholics and those in relationships with them.
At times we may wonder if breaking free from our dysfunctional past means turning our backs on others, being selfish, and choosing a path that's lonely and even scary. Indeed the road to our true self is an adventurous one that gets lonely at times.
Yet isn't growth the only choice?
If your family of origin was dysfunctional or you experienced adversity, I'm your gal.
Amy is a powerful coach. It was very easy to connect with her and open myself up enough to get into issues that were troubling me. She immediately understood the problem and she gave me some practical tips I could put into practice right away. Whenever I find myself facing that issue, I refer to her tips and find the way out.

While working with Amy, I learned how to develop and implement proper boundaries in my personal and business relationships. The change was nearly immediate and has allowed my business to grow and thrive—and given me more space in my personal life!"
My sessions with Amy helped to place a mirror up to existing patterns in my life, and to validate them as real experiences. She helped to place a new lens upon assumptions that effectively ran my life. I was able to better define "self-care" and actually rediscover a sense of play and curiosity, to indulge in life and not just duty.
Amy is one of those very easy to talk to healers—I felt instantly comfortable expressing my thoughts, feelings, and experiences with her. The greatest benefit has been learning how to organize my many thoughts and big feelings into interconnected themes, which gives me the mental space to prioritize what I feel is most important to work on.
The work that I did with Amy completely changed my life for the better. By illuminating that you can be kind without sacrificing your own well-being, Amy helped me learn how to balance being of service both to others and myself—to the benefit of both."
“You are not the sum of your wounds! Your soul and spirit are actually intact—and waiting for you. With your own hand, you can guide yourself forward, kindly. ”
—Amy, The Kind Self-Healing Book
“If you grew up in an environment in which your were only accepted or praised for being or behaving a certain way, you might sense how significant and powerful the jump from "their" needs to your intuition is. It's huge!”
—Amy, The Kind Self-Healing Book
When you decide to help yourself by working with a coach, the healing begins that very moment. For some of you, that is right now. Your healing starts when you make a decision to help yourself. Reaching out is an act of healing. When you decide to set aside time once a week to talk with a coach about your blockades and dreams, you are taking an active role in changing your life. That is powerful, magical stuff.
This journey happens at any stage of life. You're not too young and never too old to finally truly enjoy life inside your mind and body! You only need to be ready and brave enough to begin (and nearly brave enough will do.)
All being "ready" means is that you are willing to respond to the small voice inside you that wants recognition, the small voice that’s asking you to believe in your real, authentic self. That's small, but also enormous.
Real Relief, Right Away
Get Un-Stuck (I Did)
Working Together, for You
I am a champion for people who want to get un-stuck, people who want to break free of unhelpful thoughts, feel loved, and actively live their lives (not just survive and hide from their lives).
I've walked the path. I am the adult child of alcoholics—in fact, generations of drinkers, narcissists, depressives, and codependents! I was abandoned as a small child, had a mother who attempt suicide, lived in a dozen houses before I was ten years old, and I grew up around alcohol, drugs, and violent anger.
Many of my stories are told in my ten year blog, Guess What Normal Is.
These days, I'm able to say 'no' without guilt and honor my boundaries gracefully long before I ever feel the threat of giving away more of myself than feels right. I have a daily self-care & spiritual practice that includes writing, meditation, and saying mantras (beautiful, scented candles are often involved!)
May way out was this:
1. I processed my childhood trauma
2. I learned how to feel feelings and speak my truth
3. I began to set boundaries with family and friends
4. I practice regular self-care and have a dedicated spiritual practice
And, at last—I took it to the streets and began to serve others (like you!)
I’ve been writing about the challenges of adult life after a childhood with dysfunctional and alcoholic parents, emotional trauma, and rigidity since 2005 and have been coaching individuals since 2009.
My book, The Kind Self-Healing Book, is the roadmap for the way out—the way to a calm, content life. The website for The Kind Self-Healing Project is home base for workshops and events, as well as tips for how to start your own Kind Self-Healing book group.
